I had 10 deer around me last Monday morning. I had a spit spot on the ground...about 3 feet from that I had taken a leak too(I try not to do that but that one couldn't wait
). One of the larger does came under my tree and sniffed both spots and licked the Skoal. She didn't spook in the slightest.
As long as they don't associate those smells with you, they won't spook.
