There have been a few '06 7400's in my family, most of 'em were 2 inch guns, pretty fair for an autoloader and plenty good for deer hunting. I've got one in a carbine, actually shoots just a tad over an inch with Winchester factory 180 roundnoses and a bit better with handloads. Figure it's the heavier barrel, they just cut the standard barrel down and cut the crown.
