I agree, and if it was a young deer it may come back the same day if they think its safe to investigate out of there sometimes fatal curiosity. Last season after I shot a nice buck, a spike came back who saw the whole thing happen and came back. (I shoot spikes because they have poor genetics.) When he saw what happened he was knocked off his feet.
