Here in NY, they finally lowered the age to hunt to 14 (no rifle in Chautauqua Co.) My son has a Mossberg 500 with a scope but I just found out that there is no rifled choke available for that gun.
I know this may seem like a stupid question, but can my son shoot rifled slugs out of it? What would happen? The choke kit that came with the gun has a mod,imp and full choke. Or am I stuck with getting another barrell? We hunt in mostly hardwoods so we're not shooting over say 50 yds...
As always, thanks for your help and advice

If the shots are 50 yards and under.
Try OO Buckshot, and pattern it with all three chokes.
Make sure to clean thechokes with a good gun cleaner, before shooting them.
With some light oil on the threads, wiped off.
With OO buckshot you have between 12 and 15 - 30 caliber pellets, depending on shell length.
I shot a 8 pointer at 45 yards with OO Buckshot, It dropped on the spot.
It had the Mod choke in it.
I think OO Buckshot is better up close.
Good Luck
