My brown bear was a spot and stalk, he passed by after I spotted and set up on him. I've called in black bears for other hunters several times and called in a brown bear sow that I passed up the night before last. I've also set up treestands for them just as you would a whitetail. I checked: passer-by (treestand/blind), calls and other (spot and stalk).

You don't have to give away all your secrets but what kind of calls do you prefer to use when calling in bears? I'm assuming its the same ones that catch the interest of those foxes.
The area of Virginia that I hunt has black bears but I wouldn't call it "bear country" like I would Alaska. Do you think these same methods would produce similar results for me?
BTW....baiting is illegal in VA.
