My wife gave me a pair of hip boots that are extremely lightweight, compact and made for limited usage such as to slip on and off when crossing a creek. They even slip over your hunting boots, so you don' t need to take off your boots to put them on. They are made of nylon, and roll up into a very small, lightweight package. When I hunt in areas with creeks or other water, whether turkey hunting or pheasant hunting or sharptail hunting, I slip them in my vest. So, under your hypothetical, I cross the creek, but I remain bone dry (unless the creek is too deep, in which case I join the rest of you soaking wet turkey hunters)!!
