You can do that, as long as you have a static handle area. If I understand right, you are saying that your handle area is going to be the same wideth as the top of your fades? If that is the case, you need to be careful with bending in the handle, which could cause you to pop off your handle. If it is thick enough to where you get no bend in the handle area, yea, you can just glue on a handle. Ive done it before. What id do would be, tiller it out with out the handle. If you are not getting any bend in your handle area, glue on a block and make a handle. If you get a simi bending handle area, id glue on leather pads, then wrap the handle with leather and make a simibending handled bow. It all depends on how thick your handle area is.
I think I understand. Your saying that a bowyer can't take a D-tiller bend in the handle bow and just add a handle to make it a stiff handle bow. I need enough wood to make it stiff before I add the handle? Not sure if I got that much wood. Its a risk. If I go down to that ring I want, and don't have the wood needed, I just made myself a bend in the handle bow like it or not.
