While I have never hunted Maine for anything,(been there alot, and have seen lots of big game) I hardly think you could call it the silent giant for black bear.

Maine has been FAMOUS for its black bear hunting since at least the late 1960`s.
As a young boy I can remember reading about Phil Copps bear camps, and the fantastic success rates he had.

I take it you reside in Maine?
