Default Is it too late to plant food plots in Indiana?

Bow season starts next week, and shotgun starts in mid-November. I am hunting a few hundred acres of nothing but timber. There are a few small (.25-.5 acre) clearings that we could plant. The question is if there is time for a plot to grow and attract deer before shotgun? If so, what should we plant?

Thanks.
