I am a gear hog and have gore-tex everthing including a nice set of the Pac-lite rain gear....
but have found that I usually end up putting my stearns rain poncho in my pack. If it rainsa lot, nothing will keep you dryer. If it doesn't rain, it doesn't take up much room or weight too much and you can use it for other purposes, such as a ground cloth or something to wrap some meat in if the need arises!
