we have big mature bucks from what i have seen most states gun season is as long if not longer but hey stay where you at and out of my honey hole

read an article about it a while back.
It stated about long rifle seasons...during the rut, I believe, therefore less bucks make it to maturity.
There's no doubt IN has great soils and is a big buck state, just poorly managed is what it comes down to, so mentioned the article, but I had always wondered about that myself. It's centered in between buck states so it should.
I think the article came after a recent change to their law there....somethingto hopefully improve the state.
Personally it sounds like Iowa has one of the best management programs for producing big bucks.
