I am a big believer that these deer get this big by living right next to the city where no body seems to look, I shot my deer no more than 1/2 mile from the city limit sign. If you feel that this deer has a fair chance and isn't some pet of someones then yes I think that is ok to take him. Two years ago a couple of rifle hunters chased a giant whitetail from that very same tree belt that I shot my deer out of last year, and he ran towards town in to the state park behind some houses, They didn't get big by being dumb they know what is safe and what is nottt..
