We usually have atleast 2 ratchet straps on all of ours.

Also, a trick my uncle showed me (don't know how to really explain it)-- The support brace that is about midway up the ladder and attaches to the tree...usually they come with a string/rope to tie around the tree. Put a piece of metal or a good heavy stick in that rope, and TWIST it. That will REALLY cinch that brace to the tree and that ladder won't budge a bit!!!
