Default RE: SAVAGE VS REMINGTON THE HN SHOWDOWN!!!

ORIGINAL: outdoorsmen

well lets see, i'm the first guy here to point out differences between the two guns and now i'm being called out on it.
tom- i didn't say live round, and you can substatute gauge if you'd like.the method that i mentioned about checking the headspace came directly from my savage sales rep and yes that is essentionaly how it happens. the barrels are hand lapped buton rifled. call me wrong all you want, this came from the mouth of someone who knows a hell of alot more about the company then anybody else on here.
I was not trying to call you out, and I tried to be polite in how I answered your post. But what you posted in definitlery wrong. Ifsomeone from Savage told you that then they are wrong also.

Headspace has absolutely nothing to do with the "Bullet", and the "Lands of the rifle". A cartridge either headspaces off the shoulder, the belt, or the rim. Never ever on the bullet.

And your next error was that you implied that Remington did not check the headspace on their rifles. And that is ridiculous to say.

And when you discuss rifling did you know that button rifling is the cheapest way to put the rifling in the barrel?? It is also the roughest way, and that is why the barrel needs lapped. And then you say they "Hand Lap" the barrel afterwards. I would have to see that in writing. And if they hand lapped their barrels they would definitely advertise that. It takes a good bit of time(an hour or more) to properly hand lap a barrel. And I am pretty sure they do not spend that much additional time on the barrel.

Last but not least. I was a sales rep. Savage has independent sales reps that do not work for the company(Savage). They work for an independent company that represents Savage. Tom.
