Im hunting at 50. In 4 or 5 years I plan to get a 60-70 pound bow and set it at 60 so then I will get prepared for my dream elk hunt.
I would say 30 pounds is enough to kill a deer. You just gotta have a sharp tip.
In the state of Oklahoma the minimum is 40 pounds, so I wouldn't ever drop below that. I have also read in several articles that 40 pounds is the minimum you should go.
Personally, I shoot 54 pounds and it's perfect for me. I can shoot 54 all day long andI have never had a problem with it getting the job done.
