I shoot dots and the deer side of the block all spring and summer, but now since it's Aug, I pretty much shoot a 3D deer target exclusively. I do it both from tree stand and ground... I rarely shoot at dots and circles from here through the season. what about you?
Why would you stop shooting at dots? Dots are what makes a shooter, not shooting at an area on a 3D target.

You can very well practice killing a 3D target but I never stop shooting specific marks (dots).
I agree. I'm still shooting dots, and will continue to do so. I'll switch over to my Morrell broadhead target soon to make sure my broadheads are tracking true, and continue practicing. The Morrell field range bag is nice, because the dots are fairly small (2"), and by practicing AIMING SMALL/MISS SMALL, I feel more confident when that deer walks through in the field, and I zero in on a 2" area rather than just putting the pin on him and punching it.

What you're shooting at is just part of the battle. My practice sessions now are also about consistant form, anchor, and shot routine. I think all of these help get you ready for the moment of truth than just switching to a target the resembles your game. Just my opinion of course.
