So for me, it is not all about the odds.
You're saying that deer hunting has little to do with playing the odds? Then what is it? Luck?
Why do you apply the knowledge from your past experiences? To put the odds in your favor? If it wasn't about odds, we'd all have an opportunity at a monster buck every year.

1) A lot of people say this isn't rocket science and you don't think that hunting the wind is scientific. Did you hear me say that it was??
How would you refer to the using the exact angles of wind prediction in order to select a stand site? When it comes to deer hunting, that's about as scientific as it gets. Obviously "hunting the wind" isn't that simple of a principle to you.
2) I would think that most people would but all one has to do is read GMMATs post on "Forget the wind, just hunt" to see that this is not what everyone would. So the answer is ....No.
Touche, I should have used the term 'majority' rather than everyone. But there are still very few people who conciously hunt with bad wind. As you mentioned earlier, it's common sense.
3) The weather web site has been practically spot on for the areas that I hunt "up here".
Excellent, is that a national web site?

I didn't imply that you were soley ( or remotely)responsible for Higgens departure.

I must have imagined you bringing that up in a quoted reply to my post. My bad.
you may take your place at the end of the line.
Haha, you'll have a better chance of getting your deer to, "give you a light" than that.
Finally, the things that I post on here are to help others get an idea that they can expound on and help to achieve their goals. These are the very things that have helped me achieve success in hunting mature bucks. I believe that it's working. Why pick it apart and say it's not very scientific? I never said it was.
I apologize for "picking it apart" about not being scientific. It seems (and apparently I'm wrong) that you were insinuating that you do much more than simply "hunt the wind," as if there is a science to you strategy. I'm sure you've helped a lot of people on this website...
How successful have you been? Why not share some of your techniques? I'd be very interested to hear them, especially the scientific ones.
Success is subjective, I consider myself fairly successful. Unfortunately I don't have any scientific techniques, I'm simple. I use the four cardinal directions, left or right, you know... the basic stuff, that's about it.
I'm still curious as to how many acres you hunt that you can have lots of different stands to hunt when the wind isn't in your favor. Personally, I have a couple of smaller parcels of land that I hunt normally and I have to move properties depending on the wind.
