In looking at the supplied sabots I think I could use either an X (.397) or Y (.404) drill to punch a hole through the base of the sabot that is roughly the size of the bullet, using the angled part of the cup to center the drill bit. Then trim the length to about where the base of the bullet sits leaving just enough of the base to hold the petals together. Then use the bottomless sabot as a spacer in the larger sabot with the bullet base against the larger sabot. Kind of like a paper patched saboted bullet, only no paper. Maybe I am crazy and just don't know it.
