I used to shoot the PR duplexes extensively, and fount them to be every bit as accurate as a single sabot in the right gun.
It appears they actually invested in (either themselves or through a sabot vendor) molding the sabots with no gas seal. They are not trimmed off, they were never on the inner sabot to begin with.
If you trip carefully, you may be able to do it well enough by hand that accuracy won't be terribly affected. I think I would try trimming them before I tried firing them with the inner gas skirt intact.
