Tell me this Duane, if you put some really really soft limbs on a bow that if distorted would just return to their original shape then do you think that some cams would magically propell the arrow at blazing speeds. It is a combo of the cams and limbs that doo the work. Those semi rigidlimbs flex when pulling the string back and when let go they spring back to original shape and rotate the cams. The limbs are the start.
