Yes, it does scrape the paint up pretty well. I have never heard of breaking nocks in but I've only been bowhunting for 3 years. I generally shoot the hunting arrows with BHs about 10 times each to make sure they are flying well. After that they get put up until its time to hunt. I'll shoot them again just before putting them in my quiver to be sure nothing has changed. I used capped and crested arrows last year and never had any accuracy problems in the field. I killed 3 deer and 7 feral hogs with them last year.
