In Ontario , you can hunt with a crossbow there counted as a firearm and have to be in case when need to be. I think there OK for some that want to use them. As far as range there the same as a compound bow , just a little less to remember when a shot presents it self. I by no means put anyone down for useing them, its like every man for him self. I use the Compound my self and do own a crossbow that sits in the closet. Most of the guys that use them and hunt with me seem to be changeing over. The info that is out on the Compound about having to shoot everyday for practice to keep up on your anchor points is old news. The Compound Bows that are on the market today are setup well and you don't seem to have to practice like when shooting the older model stuff....BT
