"too pretty" I object to, but I hear ya wanting somethign lighter....

the newest Field n Stream tested a bunch of rifles for accuracy....the weatherby sum-moa won clearly, then I think savage did very well, worth a read....they mainly tested .308 and .30-06 as well.

sounds like a good setup for what you want. but may consider looking at the vanguard lineup, or a savage?
