Default RE: .270 Win. VS. 7mm. Rem. Mag...Would I see a difference on game?

I can't comment on the hog side of the question but can provide info on the two cal. for whitetail hunting. I own and have harvested deer with both the .270 and the 7mm mag (also own and have harvested with a 7-08 which I must say is a sweet little piece). Problem is I love them both. (as in this case, all three). You do have a tough one. The .270 shoots beautifly flat and has loads of knock down power for whitetails. My primary deer gun though is my 7 mm mag. I just like the extra power for those 300 plus yard shots (esp. on those big bucks that standing easily average 250 plus lbs.). Now your hunting situation as described is somewhat different. You can check the balistic charts and I'm sure that you'll find that the 7mm mag has more slamming power at the ranges you listed. Now if this is what you're looking for hunting hogs then there's your answer. As posted by a couple of others, the 7-08 is also a greatcal. for deer but I don't know how it would work on hogs. Perhaps you should alsore-postyour post in the Hogforum and seewhat those guys can tell you. The more info you can get the better choice you will be able to make. Savage does make the 7-08 in a lefty.
