You need to check local ordinances for the county, not just state laws. Hanover is one of those counties that's losing rural area by the day. More and more city/suburb sprawl. It's a shame you get hassled these days, but look at the knuckleheads running around. Law Dogs don't want youngsters showing up at their school with bows in there vehicles. Never had a problem in Goochland. No local ordinance there about bows and the transportation there of, that I know of.
I agree Valor. I grew up hunting on the other side of the river in Powhatan and Chesterfield. Now as a land owner in western hanover I see the city coming closer. When I was in high school in 1985 we wouldnt think twice about keeping our shotguns in the truck after hunting before school. Now you get arrested for terrorism for having a buck knife on school property.

I think the deputy that harrassed me was, in a way, right to bust my chops with the kind of things that are going on around here. I think we should all have our common sense checked twice a month and have our score hanging from the tailgate. Where are you in Goochland?
