I think you'll haveplenty enuff energy and velocity at 300 yds to kill anything on this side of the earth. That being said, I wouldnt shortchange yourself on the scope (as in max power). Most loads still have more than enough power and velocity at 400 yds, but the bullet starts to drop preety good that far out.
