Depends what you are fishing for.
For Salmon we use different weights of spoon depending on the flow of the water you are fishing. In real fast water we use weights up to an ounce with about 20 inchs of leader between the weight and spoon. We' re targeting the bottem of the river as this is where the Salmon are.
For trout no weights.
