Layed one out this afternoon.
After sitting 2 1/2 hours, having one tom run off, and the farmer in the next field tilling...... this guy was a welcome sight.
Came out of nowhere by a fence line when I first saw him he was maybe 45 yards.
He closed that distance very fast he saw my strutting jake decoy. He puffed up and walked the "green mile" right to the decoys face. Thought I would let him do his thing for awhile but my nerves got the best I shot him fast. My 11-87 with 3" #6Remington Hevi- Shot has once again impressed me 3 years in a row.
I never made 1 call the 2 1/2 hrs I was there. He also never gobbled.
22 1/2 lbs - 10" beard - 1" spurs = 62.375
I'll have better pics in the morning with me and the gun.
