RE: First Bow Kill???
Don't remember the year, but the hunt took place on a warm foggy morning and I was hunting a field edge but with the heavy fog and wet ground with water dripping off the leaves I decided to try a little stealth hunting through the woods toward some acorn trees I knew of.I start out on a slow pace and after about 30 minutes I spot a buck and 2 does feeding under the acorn trees, and the stalk was on.I placed a huge tree between me and the deer in an attempt to get closer with my goal to reach the tree and then try for a shot.It must have took me 10 minutes to cover the 25 yards, but when I did I peeked around the tree and decided to try for the buck so I draw and take m shot.My arrow hit a small limb and it was thrown high and nailed the buck in the spine where he piled up instantly. The does did not know what was going on and one of them ran right to me at about 5 steps while the other one circled around looking for the danger.I had to finish off the buck with my knife. He was a basket rack 5 point, and was about 35 yards with a golden eagle bow and easton 2213 arrows and a wasp broadhead 130 grns.Man I was so happy I thought I would bust.
