RE: You be the judge.
Did the guys son die? If so then it should be 1st degree murder. He knowingly took his son into the woods while under the influence. HE made that decision and should face the max penalty for it. If he didnt die then it should be attemted murder, reckless endangerment, Child neglect, Child abuse, the list could go on for ever.
Regaurdless he should never be allowed hunting privlages again, forever!
I agree that his greatest punishment will be living with this for the rest of his life (and that in its self would suck big time) but, when we began to have a passive out look on crime, thats when crime started going out the roof. Some one has to bare the cross....so be itif it was his first offense. It could have very easily not been HIS son he shot. What if it had been your child he shot?
I believe that stiffer punishment = less crime and this was truely a crime.
As far as forgivness goes, he can be forgiven by those who need to forgive him but, all to often forgivness is misstaken as a "get outa jail free card".
Either way its bad press for us ALL who love to hunt. Dont you love how stories like this one run Nation wide. Yet The stories of the,"Hunter who found and helped the lost hikers back to saftey" dont even make it across town....
