not sure how the numbers are in MT, but in canada I did a spot n stalk, we just drove logging roads, looking for fresh sign, just covered the ground, glassed, eventually we saw bears.....finding them wasn't much of a problem, finding a nice boar was a big tougher.

One guide who was recently successful told me he finds a water hole with fresh sign and does big loops/cirles around the water hole and eventually gets lucky....kiilled quite a few bears that way I guess, 1 big boy.
