Do you have a spotting scope, good Bino's? Best bet is to spend time glassing open hillsides and meadows, don't always just look for black, some black bears are cinnamon, or blond in color. Find out where elk and deer in your area calve and fawn out, try predator calling in those areas, the older bears know where to find food and this is one of their favorites mid spring. Also spend time looking for sign, bears are almost everywhere here in Idaho, but you can narrow your search by looking for scat, freshly torn up logs and stumps, etc....Think like a hungry bear, food is all that is on their mind, use that as your advantage.
