For bench presses Iused do the "1,2,3,4 plate warm up" With Olympic weight sets that translates to: (lbs)135, 225, 315, 405. All 10 reps each, then I can start my work out. I can't tell you how many times lately I've got to 315 and felt a "twinge". I immediately stop and rest the muscle. If it doesn't happen at 315 it won't at 405 (or any other heavier weight) just 315 for some reason. So I've doubled the reps on 135 and 225 (20)and dropped the reps to 5 on 315 and 405..seems to be working.....sucks to get old![&:]
