Default RE: What Have You Done?

Interesting Topic. I do not have kids, but a lot of the decisions I've made in the past 5 years, and continue to make, will greatly effect my answer.

First of all, I reflected back on my last 25 years of life and look at the things that made me what I am and what. Luckily I was raise as a farmkid my whole life, in a rural area. Eventually I spent 6 years in a big city, and was able to experience of other side of life.. the side that most of the public is accustomed to. And when I was finally to the point of my life that I wanted to take my next step within the Adult Family life, I prioritized certain items.

First, my #1 goal is to raise my kids in an environment where they can experiencesurvival & outdoorsfirst hand. This was something that I felt had to be. I'm not saying you can't raise a country kid in the big city... it's just really really tough. Next, I want to show my kids how to live off the land, by doing it. My goal is to be very self sufficient. Whether it's creating my own heat, generating my own electricity, raising my own livestock, obtaining my own water, having my own garden, making my own weapons. or just surviving in the wild,etc... Doing all of this by example, IMO is going to be the best way to teach my kids.

Right now I'm in the process of doing a lot of it. I still have a long ways to go... but then again, I don't have any kids yet!
