This is a great topic.
I will definately teach my son everything I know and anything I learn along the way of his growth about survival in the wild.I think about this scenario quite often, though when I talk to my wife about it, I just get the look.

(she has a hard time relating to it...but fear not ol' Pigiron will be prepared.)
I feel one of these days we
will be in a situation where we'll have to live off the land. God forbid this happens, but who knows really. Like BigJ71 said .......WSHF. We're certainly not immune to natural disasters. They've happened before and will happen again.
Preparation and knowledge is key. Learn as much as you can, and have a plan. I have no problems living in the wild. I can trap, hunt, fish, build and cloth. I still have skills to learn.I will admit as well, starting a fire without matches is no easy task. I do have plenty of ammo stashed away, and as far as firearms and weapons...well I think we're all on the same page with that.
Now-a-dayssome areso wrapped up into the petty bs of our society, that itremoves them completelyfrom the realities of life. Unfortunately, these peoplewill notbe prepared.
