Johnmorris, food for thought. When most good gun smiths set up a gun they blue locktight the screws in the bases, put the bottom half of the rings on slide them all the way forward and tighten them down [this is the direction that recoil will try to move them in] do it with both ring bases then set the scope on as you want it and put on the top of the rings. When you have taken the scope off for cleaning and are putting it back on slide it forward till all the slop is out and tighten the rings on the base exactly the same amount that they were to start with. It should hold its POI if this is done right and not just be close. Lee
