As for launcher tamers, 'GIBBS' supply a great transparent tubing and this works quite well. However you will need to dipthem into 'boiling water' (just for about 30 seconds)---not hot tap water and they'll slide right over the prongs.
As for dinging the shelf of your bow, get some (thin) moleskin and stick on the shelf.
