I have a Whammy and I know what you are talking about. Yes, the prongs are a new design. The guy at the pro shop told me that the new prongs were supposed to provide BETTER arrow containment than the old (07) style pongs. Perhaps you should give them a try (turn the bow to 80ish degrees to the side and see what happens) before swapping them out....
