I shoot three under with traditional. When I shot compounds I shot split finger, but when I bought a recurve the guy told me to do three under to get the arrow closer to my eye. After getting use to three under, if I draw back split finger it' s almost like I' m not even the one holding the bow. My longbow seems a bit quieter if I shoot it split fingered, but it hurts like all get out and the view of the shot is too weird for me. I' ll stick to three under. However the way to go is whatever works for you. It could be split or three under, or something different. I know a guy who I think drew two fingers split on compounds. The only downfall I can think of to shooting three under is getting so use to being able to see the arrow better that you could never shoot split finger again. That' s not exactly a bad thing though
