For field archery I would suggest a skinny arrow as the longer distances that are shot you will have less wind drift.
Fat arrows are ok for 3d specially if you are only going to shoot out to 35/40 yards.
Get the best arrow you can afford, the 2 best arrows out there for field are expensive at around $350 per dozen and thats just the bare shaft
The Gold Tip Ultra light Pro's are hard to beat price wise and are 0.001 in straightness and +/- 1 gr in weight tolerance

The best arrow for field also have points that cost about 30 bucks a piece.[
