hey standsleeper, coyotes are patternable sometimes, like yodeldog3 said they travel a lot,but they have a definite territory, marked with boundaries by the alpha male and female, they travel these boundaries regularly looking for intruders scent or sight, and they hunt in the same general area's a lot,but patterning on a time might be difficult, they travel a lot and hunt in low light hours so if you live in a state that you can hunt at night, you might give that a try,we cant in KY.But low light times of the day are a good time to catch one moving. You should try to locate them at dark in the evening, this will get you close to where they hang out at,but if they see you to much you will see them in that area a lot less,I invaded a den sight several years ago as a beginner and would try calling near or just sitting in the woods waiting for them to come out, they will move on you quickly and go a long distance from that den to den back up,their territory can be several hundred acres or several miles wide,so depending on their exact location they might be able to hear your calls,so hunting a lot of set will increase your odds,it's kind of like playing the numbers you play enough and you will win sooner or later, and it's a very exciting game!!
