Bigg~Bird,
I am sure that you have read my entire posts and you know that I am all for some changes to be made. perfect point was my last point when I was talking about the right to retreive law... I am not sure if it came across like I wanted but I was showing that it is a law that needs to be re-done, I have no problems with giving on that, in fact as a legal houndsman I don think it is giving, I think and have thought for awhile, prior to this debate coming up in our state, that it was not a good law and is a excellent loop hole for those who abuse laws.
I also feel that there needs to be a defined chase season for deer hounds and that yes the fox open chase season needs to be adjusted so as not to be intrusive on those of US that spend alot of time bowhunting and bp hunting and preparing for it on ly to be interrupted by someone abusing that law... maybe something like it will be legal to chase fox from 9:00 pm Saturday evening until 11:00 pm Sunday, that way the dogs are caught up prior to monday and if they are not then a fine is asigned for each dog out?
Just some thoughts, and no not all houndsmen are against compromise.
I can agree with a chase season. I also feel the real fox hunters don't need to be caught up in something they are not a part of either. It's a delicate balance controlling the ones causing issues without hurting the good guys. I'm also wonder exactly how many god guys there really are. I've been in a number of clubs and all but one have chased out of season and ran on other's lands if they got the chance. My personal observance is about 80% bad and 20% good. No they didn't all do something every day but over the course of a year they all but one did something multiple times with out of season chasing the most common offense. Then you throw in the adjoining clubs adding their random days of chasing illegally in there and it makes for some dog chase action for almost every Sat. Another reason for Sunday hunting. Maybe you might get a day without dogs for bow and spring gobbler. If they have to work Monday they won't drop to chase on a Sunday and that might be a more dog free day than Saturday. But before any issues can be solved you need a group that's willing to compromise. Right now the dog chasers can't even agree on the shape of the table to start talks.
