I've seen many guys call the 7mm Rem. mag as a very overrated round. Some guys love'em clearly. If I'm going to step it up from a .270 or .30-06 to a mag, a 7mm kinda feels like a light mag to me, and less you're going for elk with it, why carry such a big gun for a muley? a .270 or some other short mag will do fine. And for elk the biggest 7mm is 175gr? though I think 160gr is the ideal bullet for a 7mm, I say .300 wing mag I'd take over a 7mm rem. mag.
