A lot can break down form wise in the hunting world. Keeping your head and picking the spot is what it's all about. I have shot over the backs (never under, or right/left) of enough deer to know that.
This particular shotstuck mainly because I was using the XX78 super swaged arrows (g-nock, no insert in the back). It would have been very difficult with the regular type swage ends with glue on nocks. I've killed a lot of nocks and arrowswith that type of setup, but never got the full robin hood.
