tschaef I have heard that was true also, I can tell you I had my first clean miss this year and his flag was riding high as he took off! I checked for hair and blood and found neither, what I did find was two 1/4 inch saplings cut by the bullet about 10 yards in front of where he was standing when I shot. The property owners dog that is a bird dog trained to hunt deer came at the sound of the shot and with her help I tracked the deer for about 300 yards and never found hair nor blood, just tracks of a perfectly healthy deer hauling booty. I have never had a deer go any distance after being hit so I do not know if they hold thier tail down after getting hit or not.
