I got a nice 120 pound spike week 2 in Maine. I had an extra doe permit but never got the chance to use it, which was too bad since I am now out of meat. Between my two brothers, my father and I we took 2 bucks, one doe, and one fawn. The old man took the fawn as his first deer since becoming a quadrapalegic, so we were pretty stoked to have him get one (he' s been a hunter all his life and broke his neck in the middle of the 2001 when he fell from scaffolding). But, we were 4 for 4 in my immediate family and 5 for six in the extended family.
Regarding the taking of multiple deer, I personally wouldn' t have done that because I wouldn' t want to fill my freezer day one and not hunt anymore that season. But if you' ve got extra freezer space and/or are donating meat AND your state is overrun with deer I say go for it. Deer overpopulation is starting to give hunters a bad name as antis point to it and say, " Look at what their feeding, etc has done!" It' s a bunch of crap, but overpopulation IS a bad thing, so thin them out if they need it (the deer, not the antis

).
