My goal is to hit a 4"circle at 200 yrds., first shot field conditions. Most of my muzzle loading hunting is open field and mostlydoes. I have a couple of groups that will work I think. It was interesting that the double sabots slowed down the bullet. I assume because of the extra sabot. I am trying to figure the best way to post and organize the targets. I have dial-up Internet. What is the best way to put a table in? I tried a couple different ways but the table got messed up when I preview it. I am still think about a .45 but I called around different companies and it looks like they are scaling down on the .45’s.
I wanted to do the same thing, and I bought a Savage. The Savage will shoot that far no problem, if you shoot a high power powder, it is easy with either a Parker Ballistic Extreme, a SW or a Barnes TMZ. Look over here and start reading some of the content and you will see what I mean:

For example this was a 185 yard shot, with a 250g Remington HP bullet:

You can see me choosing my first bullet, which I hunted with this year and shot 1 buck and 7 does, the Parker Ballistic Extreme 275g:

I shot this group the 3rd time I shot the rifle, best group I ever shot in my life:

There are several rifles that will shoot 200 yards with the right bullet and the right charge. 250g SW, Barnes TMZ 250gin a Triumph, an Omega or a Knight Long Range Hunter will do it no problem.
