I am looking to get a mid sized tracking dog, that will also be a good pet around other animals. I want a dog that can stay outside with my boxer & room mates chocolate lab while I'm at work...

Mainly I want a dog that can be a great pet around the house that I can also bring to the hunting camp, put on a blood trail at my land or on a friends a few hours, maybe the next day? and be able to find the deer. I want a dog that I will keep on a leash while tracking. I have been looking at the texas blue lacy (I live & hunt in Louisiana).

I already ordered John Jeanneney's book on tracking deer- but am just looking for advice while I sit around and wait for it to show up.
