Default RE: Va's gov. and gun shows

I sent him one. I know it sounds soft at the end but they sometimelisten if they don't feel attacked/insulted. Politics I guess. This is it.

While I certainly support background checks for purchasing firearms what I don't support and find a little odd is how this announcement was made and I quote " The Governor made the announcement standing with family members of students killed or injured in April’s Virginia Tech shootings, as well as legislators and members of the law enforcement community."
Odd because information released stated the shooter in the VA Tech shootings did not purchase his firearms through a loophole at a gunshow he purchased them legally with a background check at a firearms dealer. It seems like support for this is trying to be gained by playing on sympathy and by leading people to believe the VA Tech shootings and gunshow loopholes are somehow related.

Rather thantrying toclose gun show "loopholes" why don't we try to address why an individual with psychological problems recognized by our courts and who had been deemed by the court to be a possible"threat to himself" is not in some way flagged. Flagging his social security number so that when he attempted to purchase a firearm would and should have denied the purchase.

It seems in the wake of tragedies like the VA Tech shootings people fumble around attempting to "correct" the system but often times they completly miss the root cause of the problem or fix a completly different problem just to be doing something in an effort to be proactive.

Furthermore there are some things that can't be fixed. There will always be those who through their actions cause fear and temporary chaos but we can not sacrifice the rights or continually strangle the rights of other law abiding citizens because of that.

Just one mans opinion but I'm sure I'm not alone.

On a lighter note I thought of a slogan for the Cigarette Ban.
Cigarettes Make You Stink!!

For the record, Good Job to you and your staffand any response would be bestsent to my e-mail.
