I have bought a couple of Weaver Classics in 4-16 with AO for well under $300. Fantastic clarity, lifetime warranty, variety of reticles available, no complaints. Check them out at natchezss.com. Other dealers carry them for similar prices.

I own several Leupold and Nikon scopes; the Weaver scopes are definitely camparable quality and less money with same warranty.
